The castles of Jesi

Ampelio Bucci, a native of Montecarotto in the Marche region, enhanced the value of Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi, an indigenous white grape variety, by founding Villa Bucci.

A family deeply connected to the land, who have risen through a life project intertwined with the human element – the irreplaceable driving force behind this Italian masterpiece. A story of agriculture, people and territory: a perfect synthesis of what can still be found in the glasses of Villa Bucci today.

Since 1987

The Villa Bucci winery took shape in 1987, in Ostra Vetere, in the Marche hinterland a few kilometres from the Adriatic Sea, near Senigallia. A land of wines produced from indigenous grape varieties such as Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi and Rosso Piceno, an authentic expression of the terroir of the Marche region.

In the heart of the Marche region

The natural cultivation of vines is in the DNA of Villa Bucci. A team of longtime winery collaborators dedicates itself daily to preserving the vineyards spread across the hills of Serra de' Conti, Montecarotto, and Ostra Vetere. The limestone and clay soils are ideal for transferring to the vine characteristics that are found in the wines of Villa Bucci: complexity, elegance and minerality. The sea breezes mitigate the sunny days while at dusk the temperatures drop, guaranteeing cool nights.

Our grapes

Verdicchio is the best-known and most widespread native white grape variety in the Marche region. Its name is linked to the colour of the berries, which are characterised by a greenish tinge even when fully ripe, while still maintaining golden reflections. At Villa Bucci, a small portion of the vineyard area is dedicated to Montepulciano and Sangiovese, red grape varieties that are original interpretations of the territory.

Large containers made of used Slavonian oak wood, ideal for ensuring natural micro-oxygenation through the pores of the wood itself.

THE HISTORY OF VILLA BUCCI: PAST, PRESENT AND FUTURE.

Ampelio Bucci, as the storyteller through the words of Cinzia Benzi, accompanied by historical images and new ones by Francesca Brambilla and Serena Serrani, highlights the pivotal moments in the creation of this iconic wine from the Marche region. A book that reveals the present and future of Villa Bucci. Since July 2024, Federico Veronesi has been leading the winery, taking over from Ampelio. Drinking Villa Bucci is recognising a distinct style of Verdicchio, an unmistakable texture, just as this volume published by Seipersei aims to convey.
